What’s this all about?
Throughout my career in headhunting, recruitment and education, I’ve realised that the vast majority of fashion design students feel unprepared for entering the industry and making job applications.
Most graduates question me on what makes a good portfolio, how many pages it should be, what to include (and what not to include). Once you’ve graduated, it’s imperative that your portfolio is the very best it can be, so you can feel confident when it comes to making job applications, and sending your profile to recruitment agencies.
So, we’ve decided to launch our first FCC Graduate Programme, and will be conducting FREE portfolio reviews for as many fashion design graduates as we can, over the next 6 months.
We want to get graduates into work, and will therefore be introducing a select number of graduates from each design specialism to major luxury brands in London, Paris and Milan. *Please note that we will only be doing this for a small number of grads, based on their suitability for brands we know well and have worked with for many years.*
Who is this for?
UK-based fashion design students graduating this year from either BA or MA courses.
This includes all sectors: Womenswear & Menswear RTW / Bags & Accessories / Footwear / Knit / Textiles & Print / Kidswear / Lingerie & Contour / Sports & Lifestyle
What’s the catch?
There is none! In ‘normal’ times, there would be a fee for this service, however we’ve decided to waive this as we know graduates of 2020 face challenging times in terms of job prospects and income. We have nearly 20 years of experience in placing design talent with major fashion brands globally, so we’d like to share our knowledge and insight with you, and hopefully get you on on the right track to start a successful career in fashion.
What to do next:
Once you’ve completed and handed in your final year projects to your tutors and received it back, simply email me the portfolio you anticipate sending out when you make job applications. Please send as a pdf via Wetransfer or similar file sharing platform, together with a brief message, outlining which companies and market level you would love to work for, ie your ‘target list’ of brands.
What happens then?
I’ll email you back asap giving an honest overview of whether I think your work is ‘industry ready’, ie ready to make applications with to companies and recruitment agencies, and also whether it’s suitable for the market level and companies you are likely to be applying to, following graduation.
If I feel there are changes you could make to improve either content, presentation/layout, I’ll let you know how you should approach this, with your ‘target list’ of companies in mind.
